Here's to more books in the days to come!

After a massive drought of reading, I finally managed to finish two books within as many days of each other. Pamuk's Snow and Rushdie's Shalimar the Clown. I spent more than a few months reading Snow, I have to add that while its a superb and brillantly written book, I missed the magic entirely.

Mostly because it was such a prolonged exercise and the whole curse of re-reading constantly resurfaced. Worth reading if you have liked his other books but I cant be sure I will only include opinions relevant to the book, if I write about it. Moods greatly affect reading for me and though therapeutic, sometimes it can act as a huge downer.Unfortunately this book fell into this category for some time. May be I will revisit it later in life...

Shalimar the Clown was a pleasant surprise mostly because unlike other Rushdie novels, this one was an easy and comfortable read. Delightfully light and remanant of an issue we usually glaze over, its a good read. The story is reasonably predictable but as his most novels, loved the undercurrent that seems always present just below the words...
